How to File for Unemployment Benefits in Massachusetts:

In Massachusetts, you can file for unemployment benefits either in person or by telephone.

By Phone:  Call 1-877-626-6800 (You will need to enter your social-security number and date of birth). 

Once you have filed for benefits, you will need to keep a log of the three (3) job searches you did each week.  Then, you need to answer three (3) questions each week, which are based on your ability to work and look for work, and any work you completed for the previous week.  These questions can be answered online by visiting:  www.mass.gov/dua/webcert  or by phone:  617-626-6338
